What I saw...
Jun. 11th, 2007 09:27 pmTonight the DH and I went out to Walmart, and when we got home, I saw something I'd not seen for, oh, probably 45 years: a firefly!
Wow! *sigh*
Hope we get to see some more!

Yea, O-o-o-klahoma, where the fireflies shine bright on summer nights!

Date: 2007-06-12 04:26 am (UTC)My father's cat saw he first one the other night. The cat was going after the cute flying bug when all of the sudden it lit up and the cat slid to a complete stop! It was the funniest thing. The bug got away clean. LOL

Date: 2007-06-12 12:09 pm (UTC)In fact, we spent a part of last Thursday evening sitting in my best friend's backyard talking and watching the fireflies. Out other name for them is lightning bugs.
They're just about my favorite part of summer.:)

Date: 2007-06-12 05:13 pm (UTC)I think they are decreasing in number (hmm...don't know if it's related to what's happening to the bees or not), but wow, 45 years without a sighting!
The big entertainment on summer evenings of my childhood was catching lightning bugs and keeping them for a little while in a glass peanut butter jar with holes poked in the lid. (Of course, who sees glass peanut butter jars these days, either...)
