Doctor Who
Jun. 1st, 2008 08:50 pmI know I've posted about this before, but it's been updated recently, and also I think the link kind of got lost amongst the other stuff I was posting that day.
So, anyway, there's this amazing webcomic that
danae_b pointed me to. If you like Doctor Who, and especially if you like classic Who as well as current Who, you will love this. It has all ten Doctors, just about every companion *ever*, most of the villians and heroes (Torchwood makes an appearance and so does UNIT!) and it has a convoluted plot just like the show! It's probably going to end up with every character in the Whoniverse! The the art is very good, it's a sketchy style, but if you know the characters at all, you will recognize them!
The link takes you to page one of the story--
The Ten Doctors
And speaking of the Whoniverse, am I the only person on my flist who is loving The Sarah Jane Adventures?

I didn't know you were a Who fan, Barbara!

Date: 2008-06-02 02:12 am (UTC)Tom Baker's still my favorite Who, but I've truly enjoyed Nine and Ten. I didn't think I'd like Ten at first, but was surprised at how quickly he won me over. I also love Five.
Anyway, I do hope you like the webcomic--I found it utterly amazing!

Date: 2008-06-02 04:17 am (UTC)I actually really want to see SJA, it sounds fun *remains a 12-year-old at heart* They started showing it on the Sci-Fi channel, except of course that is when I'm on the other side of the world for the summer XD

Date: 2008-06-02 12:41 pm (UTC)Yes, I've been watching it on Sci-Fi. It's a lovely show, and it reminds me why I loved Sarah Jane; she was such a wonderful companion! And I know that its more of a "kid show" than the current Doctor Who shows, but to me that makes it much more in the original spirit of Doctor Who, which was originally a "kid show" anyway! (I'm still a 12 year old at heart, too!)

Anyway, though the show is aimed at children, it still seems pretty sophisticated, with fairly complex plotting and some deep emotion. If this is typical of kids' shows in Britain, the UK must have some smart kids, or perhaps they just expect more of kids than they do in the US.

And the adults may not be all that observant (like Maria's parents) but they are not goofs, the way adults are in American shows. I do like that Maria's Dad is going to be playing a bigger role in the show now.
"Hannah Montana" or "She's so Raven" probably have poor old Walt Disney spinning in his freezer.
