Not really--like I said in your post, it was mostly a lot of wild guesses there at the end. I could usually figure a couple that I knew it was *not*, which gave me a 50-50 chance that my guess would be right.

But I am surprised how much of it has stuck with me. Although I think it may have more to do with reading the occasional Silm fic than the Silm itself.

I tried to take it, just to see how bad I'd do, but I couldn't get my results because I wouldn't join their sight. Too bad, too. I'd really like to know just how low my score really was.:(

Yeah, I thought it was kind of sneaky to make me take the test first. But I decided to go ahead and join the site, 'cause a lot of the quizzes come from there.

I've read it a few times--not nearly as many times as I've read LotR and The Hobbit. It's hard--and there aren't any hobbits.

Exactly! No Hobbits. LOL
Parts of it are beautiful and I realize that the history in it is very useful for sticking to canon but the lack of hobbits and the long list of strange names just don't make for a very easy read.

Children of Hurin is a much easier read, and such an exciting, if rather sad and depressing story, but it's very good.

Still, Dana and I agreed: Turin would have been much happier if he'd had a hobbit friend. Poor fellow--he really needed a Took in his life!!

The one part of the Silm I really like is the part about sending the Wizards and about the One Ring.

I liked "Children of Hurin" also. It has a storyline that seems stronger. But almost anything could benefit from a few hobbits! : )

I really liked CoH! and Sil a lot--very different from LotR and no hobbits but the depth and the language that Tolkien wrote them in is incomparable and unique in its own way. :)
