Well, the 2008 MEFAs are ended! There were 5,397 reviews this year! I did not set a "junkie" goal this year, but I did post 232 reviews, which is down quite a few from previous years, and I had far too many stories left on my "wish list"--too many RL interruptions this time around, I guess.
And some of my nominated stories placed:
Between Childhood and Coming of Age received Second Place in Races: Hobbits: Friendship nominated by
ceshaugnessy (Cathleen)
Of First Impressions and Old Friends received Third Place in Races: Cross-Cultural: Frodo and Faramir nominated by
maniac1 (PipMer)
A Place for Gandalf received an Honorable Mention in Times: Mid Third Age: Eriador nominated by Imhiriel
The Importance of Being Bilbo received an Honorable Mention in Genres: Non-Fiction: Character Studies nominated by

25 Rethe, S.R. 1422: The Three Travellers Remember received Second Place in Genres: Poetry: Drama
The Myth of the One Ring's Power received First Place in Genres: Non-Fiction: General nominated by

I'd like to thank all the reviewers for their kind words. And to thank the hard-working MEFA staff and admin for all of their hard work!

Date: 2008-12-01 03:45 pm (UTC)It's so fun to see stories I love get some well-deserved recognition! Even those stories that don't win anything get some nice reviews and some exposure! That's why I love nominating them. I'm already at work on a list of nominees for next year!
♥ back!

Date: 2008-12-01 04:45 pm (UTC)I did not find time to read/review as much as I wanted this year. (Par for the course.) Thank you for your lovely reviews.
One of the great things about the MEFAs is the great reading list it generates--when I have a tiny bit of free time, not enough for writing but perhaps time to read a chapter or two, I can go there and find lots to choose from!
(I feel a bit of a fraud, being co-nominated for "Pip-napped"--you did all the hard work and all I did was give you a bunny to feed...)

Date: 2008-12-01 10:11 pm (UTC)And thank you for all the reviewing that you did! I only wish that I could have done half as much! I was absolutely moved to tears by some of the feedback by people who don't know me or my writing and it really is a special thing! Thank you!! <3

Date: 2008-12-02 03:08 am (UTC)But you did get in quite a few reviews--I know, for I read them! And they were very good!
I didn't set a goal this year because I forgot to before the deadline, but mentally I had thought "300", which I thought was safe, because even the year of Katrina I did 500. But I just didn't manage it this year.

Date: 2008-12-02 03:15 am (UTC)They've notified the winners via private e-mail, and will probably be posting the full list of winners, I think long about Wednesday is what they said.
Now--are you going to let us nominate *YOU* again next year? It felt very strange not to have any GW stories to review! And you got me into the MEFAs in the first place!

Date: 2008-12-02 04:45 am (UTC)I really enjoyed just sitting back and reviewing when I could and now I am enjoying congratulating the winners. It's fun to be in the cheering section. I may just stay here again next year. Winning is fun but so is congratulating others.
