Guess what the DH found? He was going through some of our old VHS tapes that we'd recorded, and found the Rankin-Bass Hobbit! *grin*

It was on one of the unlabeled tapes that we'd taped straight off the TV.

I need some pictures from that for an icon!

the only thing I remember from this (I've only seen it once) is Bilbo fainting with this really odd noise :p

The Rankin/Bass Hobbit for me goes into the category of "so bad, it's good" or "delightfully tacky:" it can be cheesy, but it manages to do so in an appealing fashion (I still love watching the head goblin go spinning into the background, or the spiders kaleidoscoping into death. I can't help but laugh!). The blue-ish elves and the men with a startling lack of pants amuse as well.

Whereas Rankin/Bass RotK is under the category of "Get me the Dramamine!"

Now I have "The Greatest Adventure" stuck in my head. Thanks a lot. :-P

i like that Bilbo icon you have there~
Rankin and Bass Hobbit? I have it but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Something to do! How is that version of the Hobbit?

*I* like it! Bilbo is so sweet in it, and I love that they have the "dishes" song in it. Of course, it's animation, and it does have some odd things, like Elrond with stars over his head!
