A bit of update

I really have not had much time to post any kind of personal update lately, what with the new job, and Yuletide, and the GFIC Yule exchange and the holidays...

At any rate, I'll ramble a bit. Last weekend, the DH took our Christmas decorations down from the loft storage area in our garage, placing them on the floor near the door so we could more easily get at them. Today, when he went to get them out to put up, several of them were missing, including three little lighted yard trees that had never been opened! (Bought last year at a post-Christmas sale.); several lights; and one of the wreaths I had made--the one I had made for the porch door--and also some ribbon I had stored in a plastic box. It was truly infuriating! It looks like it was probably a kid, who just popped the door up and ducked in and took what was closest to the door.
*sigh*

Anyway, we got some of the outside decorating done, and will finish up tomorrow.

My new job has now settled into some regular hours--20 hours a week, 11-3, M-F! I certainly can't complain about that! It's a while for me to be on my feet, but I'm hoping that as I get more used to the activity, my feet won't swell so much. And it seems a fun place to work so far.

I've made a couple of false starts on my Yuletide fic. It's a certain fandom I have often wished had some fic, and I'm delighted to have it as an assignment!

Tomorrow in church, the pastor asked the DH and I to take part in the Advent candlelighting service, and then we have a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall. I'm going to take my Mixed Veg salad. And Monday night the UMW (United Methodist Women) are also having a potluck--I'm not sure what I'm going to take Monday night.

Fic-writing time is getting hard to come by!

Again, I'm so sorry about the Christmas decorations, that is horrible! I would be so upset! That's just yucky. :-(

I'm glad your work schedule is a decent one. I hope your feet get to feeling better, and less sore soon!

I also hope the muses will oblige soon, and you'll get more time for those yule fics!!

Wow, that sucks! I could never understand why someone would do something like that, especially with Christmas stuff. I hope you can finish decorating with what you have left.

Well, we replaced most of them. The one that really upset me was the wreath, but now I get to make a new one!

It is! I don't see how anyone could enjoy a decoration, knowing they'd ripped it off!

It's going well so far. Most of the time I'm greeting, but I also get to help out during the lunch rush, with keeping the tables cleared, and I get to occasionally fill in at the register. I do love working at the register!

When I applied, I asked for 15-30 a week, secretly hoping for about 20. So it really is perfect!

I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job (or at least that it's do-able!) I think that you'll find that you'll adjust to more on the feet hours (I have had a bit of adjustment again since starting teaching again where my feet ache a lot but now they're a lot better, lol) and things will get more comfortable!

It's definitely do-able! As long as those "on-the-feet" hours are reasonable, I'm okay. Even when I'm not working, I have a problem with swollen feet, especially my left leg--but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Ugh! Stealing Christmas decorations is some sort of all-new low. Last year, I had someone steal a wreath off my front door. I was incredibly angry, let me tell you. *sigh* I'm so sorry, dear. Grinches.

Now that your work schedule is settled a bit, how would you feel about a Yuletide visit, say, a week from Tuesday? A week from Friday would also work for me, if that works for you better. Just let me know!

That's terrible about someone stealing your Christmas things from the garage. Humbug!

But I'm glad things are going well in your new job and it's a fun place to work. Hopefully your feet will adjust!

I hope they feel very guilty if they try using them. It's a small town. If I see my wreath on someone's door, I'll know--because that wreath was unique!

Well--what's not fun about ice cream? *grin* I do think that I will get used to being on my feet eventually.

Swollen feet are not fun. I am guessing that you are doing a lot of standing rather than walking. Not glamorous but would support tights help?

A lot of standing, yes.

I've tried them a few times. They don't really seem to make that much difference, and are uncomfortable to me. I got some special non-binding socks that seem to be comfortable, though.
