Busy weekend

I had a rather busy weekend this week--I had to work Saturday, and then we finished up our Christmas decorating. Saturday evening we finished the tree. And Sunday morning we finished the rest, as we decided to go to the evening service instead.

I got some lovely cards from shirebound, gamgeefest and slightlytookish.

Holiday picspam of our decorations behind the cut:

First of all, here's our Christmas tree. I made that angel on top the first year we were married--32 years ago. The DH won't allow anything else on top of the tree, even though it's begun to show quite a bit of wear.



This is our mantel. The gold bell in the center is a music box, that plays "Silent Night". I made the other ornaments many years ago, before we were even married. Probably around '71 or '72. My mother bought some plain satin balls, and my sister, brother and I spent many evenings decorating them with Mom's old costume jewelry and stick-pins. I kept all of the ones that I made myself.

I made new wreaths this year. This is the front door...

The reason we decided to go to evening church was that last night was the children's Christmas pageant. Here's a pic of our sanctuary...


I took some pics of the program, but I don't want to post the kids without their parents' permission--except for this, because I don't believe any of these adorable little lambs are recognizable! These were the littlest preschoolers...



Anyway, that was my weekend!

Thank you! I love to make wreaths! And thanks to my Bowdabra the bows usually turn out nicely!

Tomorrow I am blitzing the living room and finding Christmas. I am already missing Christmas at Church. Having to handover the Children's Christmas Service hurts a lot but my place is obviously at home this year.
I am enjoying hearing and seeing everyone's decorations.

Thanks! I made some other smaller ones in subsequent years, and you can see some on our tree. But then they started making the satin balls with a hard plastic core instead of a styrofoam one, making it hard to stick pins in! Those ornaments probably cost us only a few dollars to make all of them back then. Nowadays kits to make that kind of ornament can cost anywhere from $15 to $30 apiece!

I just adored the little lambs--they had so much fun crawling around on the floor and saying "Baa!" LOL!

Thanks for sharing. It looks amazing. The ornaments you have on the mantle are very nice and I like that you have a red-blue-white theme on the tree. Is it a real tree? I love having home made Christmas decorations.

Oh, I'm glad you like it! The tree, alas is not a real one, but I think it looks very realistic.

Most all our ornaments are either homemade or have some special significance.

I would love to share the other pics I took at the pageant, but thought it best not--but I loved the program; our children's director was wise enough to let them do their own singing, and even though some of them were not that good, it made it seem much more heart-felt and innocent!
