dreamflowerI have signed up for Finish-a-thon! I have some WIPs I hope to kick-start into life, three which only exist as snippets on my hard drive, and one WIP that has been stalled due to lack of character cooperation for the last few chapters.
I have said that the voting will be open to "all and sundry" which means that anyone can vote for which one I work on! Once the poll is open, I hope that all my friends will go and vote for the one they want to see me write!!

You pick, as you said, between three to ten unfinished fics or bunnies, and then they vote on which one you actually work on for the ficathon. It lasts eight weeks, which is a fairly reasonable amount of time, actually.

I'm tempted to enter and stop dragging this out for at least one of these fics. . .I've managed to compile a list of five that could be chosen from, though admittedly I have a favorite and second favorite among them!
Do you think I should just try to do it informally, "off the record," during that time, and choose my favorite, or should I try to go all out and enter? I'm just a bit edgy still.

*"A Long Road" - Frodo suffers from a kidney infection post-Quest in Minas Tirith.
*"Old Wives' Tales" - Frodo suffers from an embarrassing bout of food poisoning as a tweenager at Bag End. Featuring Bilbo and Aunt Dora, with a planned slight twist ending.
*"Aduial" - A somewhat dark exploration of Frodo's arrival in Rivendell following his wounding at Weathertop. (Probably my second favorite of this list.)
*Untitled WIP - Frodo with an esophageal stricture (narrowing of the esophagus) caused by that "burning drink" in Cirith Ungol - post-Quest care and attempts to treat it, including an encounter with an ancient elf who has survived something of the same nature. (OK, I admit it, this one's my favorite, and I have the best outline and notes for it.)

Date: 2009-03-15 02:17 am (UTC)I'd love it if you'd sign up--but that's just me being selfish, because I'd like the company. I know you've got a lot going on in RL. However, I also know from experience (Hurricane Katrina) that fic-writing can be an excellent distraction from worry and stress when things are not going well. I got a lot more writing done then than I expected--and mostly done in long-hand!
Anyway, it would be fun if you did!
(If you do sign up, make the voting "all and sundry" so folks from your flist can vote even if they are not signed up themselves!)

I added "Starved" to the list - I'd almost forgotten that beloved fic - I have others I love too, but they haven't even more than the outline, so I doubt I could do them justice in eight weeks, particularly eight busy weeks. . . . I've included only ones I have at least a start on. . . .
Here's hoping one of the last three get chosen. ;) Preferably one of the last TWO. ;) But I've left it open!
