An anniversary!

I just realized something: Today was the fifth anniversary of my posting of my very first fanfic!

It was When the King Comes Back (the Great Smials) . I was so nervous and clueless about posting. I remember I totally messed up so many times. I also remember posting the hard way--you don't even want to know how hard I made it for myself, LOL!

But once I'd done it, the floodgates were open. I've been writing and posting hobbit-fic ever since, and don't look like stopping any time soon, though I have slowed down considerably!

oh wow!!! I only regret that I didn't get to know you earlier at that time, when I was at the peak of my LOTR reading phase, but I am still so grateful that you shared so many great fics with us and -- I was actually rereading your A New Reckoning on the plane during my trip to Seattle! :))

*grin* You've no idea how happy it makes me when I hear someone say they are re-reading that! It's so long! So it must mean they really like it if they are re-reading it. And it's one of my own favorites, because it helped me work out so many of my ideas about hobbits and the Shire.

Congratulations! :D Humorously enough, I think 'When the King Comes Back (The Great Smials)' was one of the first Lotr fics I read, or at least the one that struck a chord and inspired me to do my own writing, and I have you to thank for that! But wow - five years is such a wonderful accomplishment, and seems even more so to me since I've only just started. :) I wish you many more years of happy fic writing, and thank you for providing us with such amazing work!

Thank you, dear! It really makes me feel very strange when people tell me I inspired them, and yet it was other fic writers who inpired *me*, so I don't guess it's that far out of line.

Congratulations! I think my five year anniversary is June 10th or 11th,but I don't know the exact date as I had to repost the story,but I still have the reviews in a little used yahoo account.

This was my first,very typical ff.net review "This is pretty good so far. Please post the next parts soon!"

The story was intended as my only one.

Several people on my flist started at around the time I did. It was a few more months until I had an LJ--it was in September that marigoldg talked me into having one.

I know. Mine was too. But there were some parts that I cut out in beta, and I just couldn't lose them, so there was a second story, and then I had a bunny for the Conspiracy story, and then I discovered Marigold's Challenges...

It just snowballed.

Five years, I can say that in November :) I am just sitting here with this huge smile and also realising that I also know you for (almost) five years! May many hobbity fic follow dear! *big hug*

Oh wow, happy anniversary! I'm thrilled you're part of our community; you're such a treasure. There are so few of us still focussed on LOTR, and I am determined to meet you in 'real life' and hug you 'til you squeak.

I'm back, having just read When The King Comes Back. It is absolutely splendid--a wonderful portrait of Pippin grown. I love it!

Thanks! I owe a lot of my perspective on events to Lulleny's story that inspired it.

I look back at it now, and see a lot of things I might have changed in hindsight, but the overall direction of the story still holds up, even for me, my own worst critic.
