Does anyone know the best way to clean catsup off a keyboard? I did not notice it at the time, and it's dried on. Fortunately I don't often use my number keys.)

(No smart remarks about not getting it on there in the first place. I know that.)

Maybe spray something (like antibacterial whatnot) and leave it for a while so it gets "wet" again and then try and get a kitchen cloths between the keys to wipe

I wouldn't recommend getting it wet again! It'll be much easier to get it all out when it's dry since it clings to itself and scrapes up easier. Wet stuff is hard to remove from keys. Tedious, but I'd recommend a tooth pick. Get all the catsup out then go over the area with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a qTip. If the keys still don't press easily, might want to run to the store and get a can of silicone spray. That'll lube them up nice.

1. A few q-tips
2. A bottle of rubbing alcohol.

Dip q-tips in rubbing alcohol and swab the offending material away. This is a great way to clean the rest of your keyboard as well. it's recommended by the best of geeks, as well. Just be sure to not spill the bottle of rubbing alcohol on the KB. :-p

You got some good suggestions, I see. I shorted out an entire laptop once by spilling Pepsi on the keyboard.

I killed a keyboard once with a can of Coca-cola.

I always drink with my drink FAR from my keyboard, but I've been careless with other things before, like eating soup too close. *shudders* You have some good suggestions (like the tooth pick idea)...

The other suggestions look good, but I'll add one more detail (probably unnecessary, but just in case...). Make sure your computer is turned OFF at the time! I had a friend who tried to clean a keyboard with the computer on and the combination of keys she pressed while cleaning completely locked up the computer. Took the tech an hour to straighten it out and needless to say he wasn't pleased.

(And no, my icon has nothing to do with this at all, but someone kindly made it at my request and I'm enjoying it. LOL)

Ooooops.......mind you, I have just succeeded in dropping my laptop off a table by grabbing the case in a hurry and forgetting that I hadn't zipped it up. Fortunately bouncing it on it's corner doesn't seem to have harmed it.

Turn off the computer/unplug the keyboard, whichever is easier. You might also need to remove the affected keys to clean underneath if the catsup worked its way up into them. The keys should pop right off - just don't forget what order to put them back in!
