Arrgghh!!!

I was supposed to be at work 15 minutes ago! My car won't go. Called the DH, and of course he couldn't figure it out. If I call AAA, they won't be here before it's too late...

It will *START* but I can't get it out of PARK!!!!! And no one at the store will answer the phone because it's lunch hour.

grrrrr....

ETA About 10 or 15 minutes after I posted this, while I was still trying to figure out what to do, my DH came home unexpectedly for lunch. (He usually eats at the office.) We had accidentally switched keys this morning, and since he lost the automatic keypad I used his key to manually open the door. Apparently, I did it wrong and accidentally engaged the anti-theft device, which prevents the car from being put into gear. (I didn't even know the car *HAD* an anti-theft device!) So, I was able to get to work and was only around a half-hour late in the end. Once I explained I'd had car trouble, they were fine with it, so I didn't get in trouble for my lateness.

Still, it was pretty panicky for a while there!

oh no!! :( I know that feeling well! :( Well, all you can do is do what you can and call them as soon as they answer! But oh gosh, believe me, I know your pain! *hugs*

Very lucky for me--about ten minutes after I posted this, the DH came home for lunch (I wasn't expecting him.) So was about 30 minutes late to work, but not in any trouble once I explained what happened.

I'm sure your good thoughts did help, because my husband came home unexpectedly, and was able to solve the problem! I was only about a half-hour late to work in the end...

It did work out after all! My husband came home unexpectedly and was able to fix the problem! I was pretty late to work, but not in any trouble once I explained what happened.

It wasn't. Apparently, totally accidentally, I had somehow engaged the anti-theft system. (I didn't even know I *HAD* an anti-theft system) so that the car would not shift out of park. He did something with the key, and got it to work.

Ooooh, glad it was something simple. I HATE feeling that way - I so totally understood your panic that my heart started racing and my stomach got fluttery as I read... what a relief that you had already posted the Epilogue!!
