Slightly spoilery fandom moment on Dancing with the Stars tonight...

I nearly fell out when Bruno compared skateboarder/dancer Louie Vito to a hobbit! Tom Bergeron took it a step further and made a comment comparing him to Frodo! And the thing is, he really does look a little hobbity, and appears to be the shortest of the male competitors. (The DH says he looks sort of like Pippin, but I think he has a more Brandybuckish look to him.)

Also: poor Cheryl Burke, my favorite pro, is stuck with Tom DeLay!

And Donny Osmond can dance.

Hobbits are everywhere! : )

I'll say this though, Cheryl is being a very good sport about it all. My husband will be very sorry to see her eliminated. She's his favorite too.

Was it me or were the judges nastier than usual for a first night out?

Well, she's a classy pro, but golly gee whiz, what a thing to do to her!

It was weird-- they were too nice to some, who in my opinion were dreadful, like DeLay and that Ultimate Fighter guy (whose name I don't recall) and then just nasty to some who I thought did pretty good considering it was a first night. And Bruno was even more hyper than usual, but Carrie Ann was a lot quieter.

And Len was just being an unreasonable curmudgeon. I mean, criticizing the "All that Jazz" number from Donny, and the "Kung Fu" number from Mark-- when they were perfectly suited to the music!

I couldn't believe that they stuck her with him. She's so much fun to watch and they have to know that she won't last long with him. He's trying but he just doesn't have it.

I couldn't believe the number of 4s they gave out! The scores were pretty dreadful. Donnie may have a real shot at this if none of the woman are any good. The little Leo, hobbit guy isn't bad and that guy Aaron is ok. As to the Ultimate Fighter, I think they are afraid of him! Personally, I felt sorry for George Hamilton's son. They were very rough on him and it is clear that he really can't do any better. Also, they gave him the new pro! She should have got Delay. That would have made sense. Cheryl or someone with more experience might have been able to be more help to the Hamilton guy.

Len was his usual when it comes to smart, entertaining dances. He never 'gets' it! He knows his dance steps and form but he misses the fun side of it all.
