So, I may have mentioned that I am on the Advent Committee for my church this year. The subcommittee (me and Mrs. C) are in charge of preparing a devotional booklet for the Advent season.

So, yesterday

Mrs. C picked me up, and we went over to one of our members homes. He's a pro photographer, but he does a lot of work gratis for the church. We hoped to find a nice picture of the church sanctuary decorated for the holiday, and he came up with a great one:

2009 Advent

We loved it! The booklet will include devotions from members of the church, one for each day of Advent, as well as some fillers, such as recipes and children's activities.

We also got some price quotes for getting the covers printed. (We'll be using the church copier for the printing of the text.) Then we had a meeting with the rest of the committee last night. Everyone loved the way our booklet's going, and we got the liturgy and order of worship planned for the first Sunday of Advent.

So, anyway on my way home from the meeting last night, the weather was doing what it had done all day: drizzle and mist. Until I pulled into my driveway, parked, and got out of the car. The very moment I locked the car door, there was a boom of thunder and a bucketload of water landed on me! Just going from driveway to house, I was completely soaked.

Ten minutes later, the rain was over.

*sigh*

I love the ideas for the booklet, Barbara. The picture is beautiful!!!

As for the rain, well... I have 2 theories.

Either someone unpleasant is NOT happy with the progress of your booklet and how it will help people focus on the true meaning of the season, or

God has a very quirky sense of humor. Which I know for a fact is true anyway.

LOLOL - sorry you got drenched but that really is a little funny!!

It looks lovely - I'm sure the families will appreciate the stuff for
kids in it, too. :)

Dry now?

That is a beautiful picture!

I fortunately have never been caught outside in a downpour. At least you were close to home, dry clothes, towels and blankies. :)

Beautiful booklet!

As for the rain...*sigh* The same thing happened to me on my way back from class this week. I stepped outside, it poured, I got on the bus to go home, it stopped. I just don't know.

*huggles anyway*

Wow! that's lovely picture :D

I have become totally oblivious to rain now... apparently the rain in Britain has decreased by 3% this year. this actually means the 3% has magically found it's way to the north west - we haven't had a sunny day since about April time!

That's a very atmospheric booklet cover. It puts you right into the advent/Christmas mood.

Rain is funny that way. Or annoying. Glad you didn't have to travel soaked.

Beautiful cover design--that's a keepsake!

And whoosh! A real Little House on the Prairie storm for you! Living up here in the Land of Rain, one would think we would be drenched all the time. But the strange thing is, Washington rain isn't wet! Unless it's a real downpour (which is a 'storm' as opposed to a 'system' here) you can pretty much run in and out in what's falling and stay dry.

The wettest I have ever been was in Disneyland--water above our ankles! Must have been the magic! Or the lack of storm drains!

Oh that's a beautiful photo... love all the poinsettias.

Ugh, downpours are the pits. We're getting your drizzle and mist today... it's nassssty out, only about 43F and windy. *shivers* I still want to know who told November it was okay to arrive in the middle of October.

That's a beautiful booklet cover.

Oh my gosh, to get soaked just as you pulled up! At least you were home and could go in and get nice and dry quickly!
