So far, so good. But we are supposed get hit with a major ice storm in a few hours, and all the TV and radio stations are talking as if it's a done deal that we'll lose power. So just in case I vanish for a few days, that will probably be the reason. I hope not, though. I hate being without my computer...

I'm supposed to go to work, and I don't see them closing the store, but it's not far and if the weather's already bad by the time I have to leave I'll have my son drive me and pick me up. (Or the DH-- he's gone in to the office, but plans to leave and come home as soon as he deals with a few things-- but if an emergency comes up, of course he's on call; he's already told his employees not to come in.)

Amusing: they just had a little thing on the local news about how your food could be safe in the fridge or freezer for 5-6 hours if the power goes off, and to throw out stuff after that. DUH! PEOPLE: Ice storms mean it's FREEZING outside; put the food in a box and stick it out on the front porch (or the back) for Pete's sake! Sheez! That's what we did the last time, and we didn't lose any food at all-- except what we ate up, of course!

That's exactly what we did during our big ice storm a few years ago. Put it in the garage and everything kept just fine.

I hope the ice isn't too bad for everyone. They're forecasting snow for where I live, so I think we'll dodge the ice storm bullet this time. Hope your power stays on!!!

Your area looks a right mess from what I see on the news. Hopefully it will all melt *soon*.

*snickers* Yep. We haven't lost power at our house for more than an hour or so, but that's exactly what I'd do. And we've had a couple of times in the office that Lorraine's brought in peanut butter fudge and forgot to put the melted chocolate chips on top in time for them to set up properly. Thirty minutes in a snow bank and we were fine. :D

It's too obvious for them to think of that!

Eeeee, good luck.

Good luck--hopefully the storm will be tetchy enough that it blows just a little north or south of you and you don't get the worst of it.

Do stay safe!--ice storms may be pretty to look at, but they're dangerous both for the feet and if there are any downed lines! (You already know this, I'm sure, but still).

I guess that's a winter adventure you can do without, huh? I hope it's just newspeople overhype but be safe, good luck, and... keep your food cold! *giggles*

That last paragraph made me laugh out loud. I swear, some people will never learn simple tricks like putting your perishables outside when it's freezing.

But I hope you don't lose power, and that you weather the storm all right. *hugs*

It takes a lot longer for the food to go bad than that if it's already been cooked. Sheesh. And, as you say... cold outside!

Yup, but don't put the food in the snow unless you want it to melt/taw. Snow isolates as you might know. I do hope the storm won't be too bad and that you don't loose power.

Stay safe and stay warm!

*hugs you*

Be careful if you have to drive on ice!! Batten down the hatches and stay safe! See you on the other side (or hopefully you'll keep power! :))
