Random Saturday stuff

We had a nice quiet day catching up with a few household chores-- we went out this afternoon to pick up a few things, and got lots of seeds for only .10 a packet, on sale at Atwoods! And I found a really cool new snack!
Wow! Those are great! I think I have found a new favorite crunchy!

Oh--shirebound's post about her bed inspired me to take a pic of ours. Couple of pics behind the cut...





The wall-colors and curtains came with the house. I'd like to paint the walls pale green, and put up kind of lacy cream curtains. But the DH wants something more substantial, like drapes. I admit they'd be better insulation, but I think curtains would be prettier.

Kind of watching at the Olympics now. We've had it on pause for a while, so now we can fast forward the commercials. I'm really looking forward to the closing ceremonies tomorrow-- those are always so much fun!

Your bed looks very comfortable. Mine is always buried beneath books,papers, cats and cuddly toys!

Ours is usually buried in folded laundry. I put it away before I took the pic! ;-)

I like your bed! And those dried peas look lovely. I had pineapple snacks like that once. Very good. Untill I found they were just as bad calorie wise as potato crisps so I didn't buy them again.

Your bed looks super comfy. DH is such a darling to let the stuffed animals enjoy it during the day.

Well, the elephant is his and the unicorn is mine. I like to let them snuggle during the day. He likes cuddly toys too! The bed really is comfy-- for one thing it's a Sleep Number, and I keep my side at about 40, which makes a cozt little hollow for me to sleep in. (Though every now and then, I need a slight shove to get out of it in the morning!) He keeps his side kind of hard, about 80. 100 is maximum-- that's hard as a slab! But I guess some people like it that way! And one night, I accidentally went down to 10: that's more like a pit than a hollow! I thought I'd never get out!

I saw those at the supermarket and just couldn't resist trying them! They are super-yummy, and crispy-crunchy, but not hard-crunchy, if you know what I mean.

Why not put up lace curtains on a tension rod as an inside mount and then outside mount drapes? You could pull the drapes back during the day to show off your pretty lace curtains and then close them at night for insulation.

That might work! Of course, new window treatments have to wait for the painting, but thanks for the idea!

It is very cozy! Warm and comfy. Actually, sometimes I get *too* warm, round about 2AM!

Ooooh!! Fur!!! I want to make like one of my cats and snuggle up in a ball on them. :-D You have a very snugly looking bed.

What sort of seeds did you get? :)

Flowers-- lobelia, shasta daisy, flax, forget-me-nots, larkspur, marigold, sweet william, and a blend of wildflowers.

Herbs-- dill, parsley, lemon balm, two kinds of basil, thyme, savory

Veggies-- carrots, bush beans, squash, radishes, some onion sets, and four kinds of tomato-- Early Girl, Red Cherry, Jelly Bean and Brandywine (I couldn't resist that last one! LOL!) The DH also got some pumpkin and sweet corn and pole bean and okra seeds as well, for his fledgling garden.

Sounds like good choices! We started up some little plants from seeds and they've all sprouted now: purple basil, regular Italian basil, cilantro, and some flowers like zinnias and marigolds and such. The veggies can't go into the ground, though, until we have someone come and help us clear away the winter growth.

Yeah, still a little early for plants in the ground. I'll probably start the tomatoes indoors this week, and some of the herbs and perennial flowers.

*grin* It does have a kind of Middle-earth look, doesn't it? I love the contrast of the kind of primitive and rugged fur against the pale chenille and the lacy crocheted throw pillows!
