Last night I woke up in the wee hours, very disturbed by an odd dream that involved some kind of war, Diane Sawyer, and someone trying to escape from a violent enemy in a crate. I sat up, and my first thoughts were of those trapped coalminers.
Probably, I shouldn't have, but I got up and went to the computer and Googled-- they had found the bodies just two or three *minutes* before I woke up. This just agitated me more, and I knew I could not get back to sleep.
So I sat up until nearly 5:30, reading a nice update of a Lindelea fic, some fluffy HP fic, and shooting bubbles online until my brain was numb, and then I went back to bed, and was able to sleep about two hours.
The DH and I have had a nice enough day off together-- we went to a Route 66 museum, and had lunch out.
But all day, at odd moments, I can't help but think about those poor men...

Date: 2010-04-11 01:11 pm (UTC)It's always been a wonder to me that anybody ever wanted to go into the mines. Not only is it dangerous, but the environment is punishing and the mining companies seem to be universally corrupt. It is a very hard life for all concerned and I wish there was something we could do to make it less of an accident waiting to happen for them.
