Holiday decoration picspam!

Last weekend the DH and I put up our Fourth of July decorations. I finally got the pics uploaded:

Front door wreath This is the wreath I made two years ago for the main front door. It's inside the porch, and so doesn't get weather-faded.

Screen door The bow on this door was the DH's idea! The wreath I had made two years ago was very faded, so he put up the bow instead. I think it looks great!

Front of house, daytime The "bunting" is inexpensive plastic. Next year we hope to get the real thing!

Side porch rail In the daytime, it doesn't show well, but we have little star shaped lights on this rail.

Our lamp post This is a solar lamp post that we've had for a while. We got it at Big Lots for $29.99 (In catalogs it usually runs twenty to thirty dollars more!) Anyway it's decorated with a bow, and more of the little star-lights!

Nighttime front of house Here it is lit up!

Nighttime porch rail And you can see the little stars better at night!

Solar lamp at night And here is this one, lit up! And here's a little pic of something in the back yard:

Sunflower This is a volunteer sunflower. It wasn't planted on purpose, but grew from a bit of birdseed, and the DH just left it.  It's growing in a rather awkward spot, but we didn't have the heart to uproot it.

It's a little awkward, right next to our picnic table bench, but it's nicely visible from the kitchen window!

This one's been spectacular! I've never seen one before with so *many* blooms on the stalk!

Such cute decoration! I like that lamppost too! When we build or buy a house, I'm so getting one for the front yard.

I love our solar lghts. All our outdoor lighting is solar--very easy to maintain, no need to run power, and plenty bright enough almost every night, even after cloudy days. Cheap to use, and not expensive to replace, either!

What colourful decorations! We only have holiday decorations at Christmas in the UK.

Well, I think aside from a few people who put flags out and one lady the next block over who also decorates for every holiday, we were the only ones who decorated for the Fourth! But here in the US a lot of people decorate for other holidays. Besides Christmas, Halloween is the most popular holiday to decorate for, and many people do decorate just as elaborately for Halloween as for Christmas! I like to acknowledge each holiday with, at the very least, a themed wreath on the door, but for the Fourth, the DH wanted to go all out this year!

The sunflower is delightful, and visible from the kitchen window, so it really is a nice cheerer-upper!

Well, there's one lady one block up from us who also decorates for every holiday! This is the most we've ever done for the Fourth of July, but we also try to do *something* for every holiday! I'm really lookin forward to Halloween this year!

But yeah, most people here just put flags out.
