I finally caved
Jul. 16th, 2010 09:05 amAnd signed up for Facebook. Actually, what happened was the DH accidentally-sort-of signed up for it, and then asked me what he could do with it. Well, I didn't know, so I figured I might as well take the plunge myself and we could figure it out together.
My page is here. I thought I'd basically use it to direct people to my LJ and other places I already frequent. Problem is, the links I tried to put in with the URLs did not come out as links. I tried the < a href ="" > HTML thingie, but it didn't work, so I just put in the plain URLs.
Does anyone know how to put *real* links on my profile there? That way anyone who wants to know about me can just come here.

Date: 2010-07-16 06:09 pm (UTC)I don't have a Facebook, never will, and my neighbor here at work doesn't know how to post links there either. Is there FAQ page?

Date: 2010-07-16 08:08 pm (UTC)Oh, and unless you *want* to see a bunch of games from your friends, click "hide" this app whenever anyone of them comes up -- and be very, very wary of polls/app's through Facebook. They will say they need to access your info to work; no thank you.
All that said, I do enjoy Facebook for keeping up with faraway (and close-by that I don't see enough) friends and relations.

Date: 2010-07-31 05:54 am (UTC)Hope this helps... I just happened across this in your LJ, playing catchup as a break from Discrete Math.
I had to learn a few things when posting a website and giving a restaurant a FB and Twitter presence last year.
Cheers,
