We are fixing to go vote in a few minutes. *sigh* I wish that I felt like my vote was going to matter to anyone else. I don't expect anyone I'm voting for to actually win...
I know what you mean. :-( I don't really like anyone who's running. As far as I can tell, none of them have been honest, they have all supported bills and such that I didn't/don't like. But mostly, it's that I don't feel I can trust any of them nor any of the reporting about any of them. It makes it very hard to make an informed decision.
A friend of mine said he is simply going to vote against all the incumbents in hopes of at least getting a change in the status quo.
The problem with "throw all the incumbents out" is that it often gets less change-- newcomers often have no idea how the system works, and they have less seniority. And some incumbents *DO* deserve their jobs.
But I made up my mind on negativity. No candidate that relied on vicious attack ads got my vote. In two cases, I voted for Independents, because the other two were so nasty during the campaign.
And there was a particular bill I voted "Yes" on because everyone kept telling me I *HAD* to vote NO.
I'll be voting later, probably just to click a few propositions. The California governor's race is so nasty I'm tempted to not vote for either one of them.
Luckily, ONE of the gubernatorial candidates here chose to run a positive campaign, in spite of the nastiness her opponent slung at her. I was very proud to vote for someone like that, though as I said, I don't expect she'll win.
The State School Superintendent race was like that. I had decided I just wouldn't vote in that one, but when I got to the poll, there was an independent candidate running. I voted for him instead. He didn't run any ads at all so far as I know.
Politics. Yech. I voted yesterday, as my state only does mail in ballot, but I feel the same. It seems we're just spinning our wheels, getting nowhere because all the politicians want to do is block each other. Sigh.
I really get tired of the politicians telling ME what I do and don't want. I KNOW what I want, and it's a government that will stop posing and start working.
I need to find my polling place and go out this evening and vote on some of the props. Don't know if I'll vote for any of the politicians. Whitman lost me when she started her smear campaign and Brown is just as bad. I'll likely vote one of the lesser known candidates. *sigh* is right. There just never seem to be any good options come election time.
I've just come back from voting. You never know if your vote will make a difference--either way, you get an "I voted!" sticker. I live for that sticker... ;P
I actually missed most of the commercials (I always tape shows and zip through the negative ads) and so I just did independent research on the candidates.
Seriously depressing day. We vote by mail here, and have had our votes in for a week or so. And while Washington state will probably go blue in the end (Dino Rossi will sue for recounts till the cows come home if he doesn't win handily tonight), it really doesn't matter when you look at the national picture. I mean, they just announced Rand Paul won! The guy who says private business should not be held to anti-discrimination laws in hiring!
We're back to the Bush years now, even if we do have the votes in the Senate.
