1.Lots of pillows or just one?
Two "regular" pillows, and one small squishy one that I often put under my neck or shoulder.
2.What kind of books do you read?
Mostly non-fiction: cookbooks, crafts and how-to books, gardening, history, any books about Tolkien and LotR. Fiction, well, I mostly read online now, and mostly fanfic. But when I do read fiction, I like fantasy, sci fi, mysteries and classics. I also enjoy kid's fiction.
3.What are your neighbours like?
On one side of us is an elderly retired couple, the other side is a young couple with a son who is now about 8 or 9 I think. Coincidentally both families are members of our church, making three of us in a row.
4.What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
To be polite.
5.Tell 3 things you have in your point of view right now.
My monitor. My keys that I have not put away. A pair of scissors.
6.What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
LotR, more specifically, hobbits. Current, past and future. I don't see another fandom ever supplanting it, though I may occasionally have a passing interest in others.
7.Do you prefer your junk food sweet, salty or savory?
Salty. But if you add the adjective "gooey" to "sweet", it's about even.
8.What websites do you always visit when you go online?
gmail; LJ; Many Paths to Tread, Stories of Arda, the MEFAs, Bubbleshooter; my bank
9.What was the last thing you bought?
A bottle of water and a half-gallon of chocolate milk.
10.What is your favorite flower?
Marigolds. They are tough, and bright, and prolific.
11.What is the most difficult thing you have ever done?
Hmm...there is a difference between experiencing difficult things (which I've done many times) and DOING something difficult, really difficult and not just something that's a challenge to learn. I guess I'd say when I flew to Scotland by myself in 2007. I didn't realize until I was actually on my way how hard and scary it was, because I have never *traveled* alone before!
12.What was the last meal you ate?
Leftover roast beef and gravy over toast for supper.
13.Do you want to learn another language?
I would love to. Unfortunately, I do not seem to have the knack for it. I've taken three languages, Spanish, French and Koine Greek. None of them stuck, and I was dreadfully bad at speaking both Spanish and French. Fortunately Koine Greek is a dead language, so my horrible accent did not matter. I am so jealous of multi-lingual people!
14.Five things you want right now:
Financial stability
Good health for me and my loved ones
A nice routine that leaves time for writing and crafting
The chance to do some of the things we need to do to our house
The world to be a kinder and gentler place
15.Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 36. What is the first sentence of the second paragraph?
*sigh* "You'll find his will and all the other documents in there, I think," said the wizard.
What? Did you expect me to have any other book lying next to my left hand? That's where it lives, on the corner of my desk, ready for consultation at a moment's notice...
16..What's something that someone said to you today that was amusing?
A mom and her two little boys checked out. One was a toddler, just barely walking age; the other, who was holding his hand, appeared to be about 7 or 8. I grinned at them, and the baby smiled back. The other one said "He's my brother," very seriously. (Aside from their ages and sizes they were about as alike as peas in a pod. I'd never have guessed.) I nodded, and then he added "I'm the older one."
(I have to confess, it reminded me of Kassiopeia's cute little!Boromir and wee!Faramir webcomic.)
17.What are you looking forward to?
The new year. I'm hoping by that time the financial fallout from our bankruptcy and the DH's temporary bout of unemployment will be ironed out.
18.Do you prefer boxers/briefs/tighty whities on a guy?
Uh...I never thought about it, actually.
