OK,everybody, I have never even seen one episode of "Supernatural", but ramblin_rosie has written a hilarious crossover: movie-verse LotR/Supernatural. In it are some very funny tributes to some real-life LotR fanfic! (I'm looking at you, surgicalsteel and grey_wonderer as well as some other people on my flist, not to mention a flying tribute to one of my DH's favorite bunnies...

Somehow, Sam and Dean end up following Aragorn from the Paths of the Dead to the Pelennor: Red Falls the Dew in the Rammas Echor

Brief explanation of the "Somehow" part: This story is a missing scene from an episode called "Changing Channels." It takes place in Season 5, when both Winchesters have been told that they are destined to play specific roles in the Apocalypse (which they inadvertently unleashed). They’re trying to find another way to stop the Apocalypse when they fall into the hands of the Trickster, who says he’ll consider helping them if they can survive 24 hours of his dropping them into a variety of TV shows. We see a Grey's Anatomy clone, a Japanese TV show, a herpes medication commercial, a sitcom, a CSI: Miami clone, and a Knight Rider tribute--but there have to have been more adventures along the way....

Anyway, thanks for the rec, Dreamflower, and I hope others get a kick out of it, too!

That's one of my favorite Supernatural episodes ever! Of all the movies and shows that people dropped them in, Lord of the Rings isn't one I even thought of but sounds somehow appropriate.

Can't wait to read this!

This makes a lot of sense now! My daughter's main fandom is Supernatural, and she was somewhat skeptical, but mention this episode title, and she got all giggly. I'm going to point her to it now.
