A new community!
Jan. 13th, 2011 10:06 pmI am very excited to announce another GenFic community for Lord of the Rings:
lotrgficbigbang!
Some of you may know of Big Bang Challenges in other fandoms, in which authors write really BIG stories, which are illustrated for them by artists! Well, now there is one for LotR!
It's a sister community to
lotr_community, which runs our monthly challenges, and has the same mods: myself,
ceshaughnessy,
pearltook1 and
dawn_felagund!

Date: 2011-01-14 12:21 pm (UTC)1. First, AU scenario in the plot is okay, right? I had this long Frodo and Aragorn friendship fic that I've had stirring in my head for awhile and think that this might be the best scenario to write it (and with deadline, yay)
2. I want to announce this to my flist, but don't want to give out wrong information. I know the stories are supposed to be family friendly, but can you clarify? This is completely gen fic, right? That is, no romance and no slash, right? Or is slash/romance allowed as long as it stays at a PG13 rating or below?

Date: 2011-01-14 03:38 pm (UTC)As for your second question, the story should be gen, which to my mind means not "no" romance (het or slash) but that romance takes a back seat to the rest of the story. In other words, the story is not ABOUT the pairing, it's just on the side, so to speak and not the main thrust of the story. We don't forbid slash at our comms, but like het, it needs to be kept very low-key and mild.
