They are still telling people to stay off the roads. But I called the store just now and they want me to come in to work.

It's not far. In normal weather it takes only 2 minutes. I figure it may take me an hour or more to get there today.

Also, I went in Sunday and got my schedule Sunday, and I saw that I was off Mon and Tues. But now they are saying was scheduled to come in and didn't.

I am fixing to get dressed and see what I can do. It's 8AM, and if I start now, I MIGHT be able to get my car moving on time.

This sucks.

ETA Our across the street neighbor kindly came over and used his snowblower on our driveway. I have come in to change my socks and warm my feet up, and then I am going to head out. I will go very slowly and just hope I don't get stuck between here and there.

If all goes well, I should be home by 4:30 or 5.

you know, that makes me mad. When they say that people should stay off the roads unless they have to, I think they are referring to people who HAVE to go because their health depends on it (like going to a doctor's appointment), not people who work in a non-essential field. *shakes head*

Stay safe and warm!

Good grief. What part of "stay off the roads" does your employer not understand?

Hopefully you can get the scheduling snafu sorted out.

Obviously THOSE people could get out. That doesn't mean *I* can!

Exactly! Not everyone has 4WD that can manage in snow like this. Your boss's attitude really flies in the face of how everyone should be behaving in this sort of situation. *sigh*

Hope you can get out. Our snow was less than expected, so we're OK, but if you're stuck, you're stuck!

Ouch - not good at all. At least here they understand when things happen. Ok my husband walked to work the day we had bad snow here having walked home the previous night. But he is a pharmacist and felt he had to be there to endeavour to get his clients needed medications out. That is the sort of job where if you are asked to stay of the roads unless completely essential that comes under the essential category.

Driving in snow is no fun - even in areas used to it. This winter has been very strange across the world it feels. Our cars spent several weeks parked some-way from the house so we could use them

Heavens, I don't imagine there'll be any business today. I hope all will go well with your trip to the store.

Stay safe, and I hope you can get work sorted. It sounds like they don't know what's going on and need to get their act together.
