The Star Trek Meme
Mar. 3rd, 2011 09:07 pmI gacked this one from
rubynye! Thanks, dear, it was fun! (Questions and answers behind the cut.)
1. What is your favorite Star Trek movie? (not including STXI)? Star Trek IV; Whales, pizza, the invention of transparent aluminum and Spock using "colorful metaphors"!
2. What is your favorite scene in STXI? Hmm...I don't think any one particular scene stood out for me from all the others. Although I will say, the shout-out to Sulu's interest in fencing and actually USING it in the plot made me grin! And of course, I squeed at the first appearance of Spock Prime!
3. When were you first introduced to the Star Trek franchise? First episode, first run, in 1966, when I was 14. And in color on our brand new color TV, bought only a couple of weeks before.
4. Is there anything Star Trek around the room in which you're currently sitting? A few days ago, I would have said "not", but in clearing out one of our knick-knack cases, preparatory to new carpet, I discovered a tiny little plastic Enterprise model, which had come on a birthday cake many years ago.
5. Vulcan ears are: A) cute, B) sexy, C) neither, D) both.
D. (Though cuter and sexier than Elf ears, but not so much as hobbit ears.)
6. If you could be any other species than human in the Star Trek universe, you would be: Have to think that one over. Let's see. Other than human, I'd say El-Aurians, because Guinan is COOL! But truthfully, I really like the humans of the ST universe; they are so socially evolved!
7. Which pet would you rather have: a sehlat or a tribble? A tribble of course! They purr!
8. Who might you cast in the role of reboot Nurse Chapel? Khan? Other reboot character? Honestly, I am not at up to date with the newest actors, and can't imagine who I'd pick for different roles.
9. Kirk and Spock are: Awesome!
10. If you could give any Star Trek character a chance to be captain of the Enterprise, who would it be? Geordie. I loved Geordie!
BONUS. Think fast! Give one Star Trek quote from memory: "I'm from Iowa; I only work in outer space."
My own question: What TOS episode would you like to see remade in the reboot universe?

Date: 2011-03-05 08:22 pm (UTC)Ah! A tribble tradition, eh? That would make it a "tribble-ition"
Bah-dump-bump! *everybody groan*

Date: 2011-03-04 05:56 am (UTC)I am not a fan of the reboot universe if that refers to the 'new' JJ Abrams version of Trek. (If not then ignore all that follows here. LOL) I hate what he did to the franchise. I, personally think he waited until no one was looking and stole it and reshaped it in order to make money and attract a younger crowd. His Spock/Uhura romance was a bit like Peter Jackson sticking Arwen into the films in the way that he did. It was done to attract female viewers. It was also very out of character for both of them in my opinion.
I would hate to see any of my favorite episodes get the reboot treatment so instead, let him reboot my least favorite episode, "Spock's Brain". That has to be one of the silliest episodes of OT of all time. Let Abrams have that one.

Date: 2011-03-05 08:25 pm (UTC)It might be fun to see them try and tackle "Spock's Brain" and try to turn it into something more plausible. You are right, it was a really BAD episode!

Date: 2011-03-04 01:09 pm (UTC)I've never been enough of a fan to get into the ST fandom but I do love the show, in almost all its iterations, and most of the movies (I enjoyed the reboot, which I know stirred strong emotions pro and con among fans). Never was wild about ST:DS9 or ST:Enterprise, though, and I always felt guilty about not liking Enterprise, because I love Scott Bakula. But eh, it was just too... something. Or not enough... something. I can't even figure out why I didn't like it!

Date: 2011-03-05 08:28 pm (UTC)I did like DS9 and Enterprise, and Voyager as well, though I did not get the chance to see those in first run-- I only got to watch those much later.
