This hymn was sung at our service Sunday, by the young daughter of our choir director.

It's such a beautiful and ancient hymn; I liked this best of the many You Tube entries for it.

This is my favourite hymn above all others. I hadn't heard it in English before though. The version I love the best is sung by a male barytone singer, simplle and beautiful with hardly any instruments accompanying it. It is also a song we used to sing during all services in one of the churches I went to in Oslo.

Also, thank you for the cute St. Patrick's Day card. :)

Are you Methodist too? (Just asking because often the same hymns and liturgy are used in many Methodist congregations on the same Sunday...)

Presbyterian, actually. I was visiting a friend's church, though, because I'm staying with her for spring break. It's not methodist either, though, nor is it liturgical: we actually sang a "contemporary" version of the hymn.
