My bifthday weekend
Jul. 4th, 2011 04:53 pmWell, here are my thank yous to all you lovely people on my flist!
I had birthday greetings on LJ from
i_o_r_h_a_e_l;
telperion1;
gamgeefest;
shirebound;
claudia603;
cairistiona7;
pandemonium_213 who also made me a delightful cartoon here;
songspinner9;
baranduin who made this ;
lbilover;
piplover;
surgicalsteel;
lilybaggins;
ansostuff;
gentlehobbit and
obeliamedusa.
I got LJ v-gifts from
pearltook1 (who also sent me a lovely e-card) and
lindahoyland.
And
blslarner dedicated her challenge story to me: "Fences and Dreams"
I hope I didn't miss anyone!
ETA: Actually, I did!
ellynn_ithilwen made me this lovely virtual bouquet: http://ellynn-ithilwen.livejournal.com/28753.html
I also got some beautiful e-cards, FB birthday greetings from many of my friends in my old Barony, and a nice long phone call from my sister.
Since I had to work for a little while on my actual birthday, we used the time I was off to put up our Fourth of July decorations. Then on Saturday, we celebrated all day long. First we went to a local antique and vintage shop. I picked up 5 back issues of "Piecework" magazine, and then we had lunch out. After that we drove to OKC, and went to Barnes & Noble, where the DH allowed me to have a small shopping spree. I picked up "Somerset Studio" and "Polymer Café" magazines, and I got this beautiful glass pen set.
Then I had another little spree at Michael's and found several different little craft notions, including some more polymer clay.
We went to Target after that—my plan was to see if I could find a pair of jeans (no such luck; I guess only skinny people shop there). While I was doing that, the DH went to electronics and surprised me by picking up a blu-ray player! I asked him why, and he told me that he wants to get me the new LotR disc set with the three extra hours of footage—but he can't do that until we get the blu-ray! However, the LotR set will have to be delayed, as it is apparently more expensive than the player he bought.
Finally we went to Olive Garden for supper, and I had the new Chicken Carbonara Ravioli—yum! And I brought about half of it home with me.
We did not go to church Sunday—the church sent out an e-mail letting everyone know the A/C is broken. With 90-plus Fahrenheit temps and NO WINDOWS THAT WOULD OPEN in the Sanctuary, it would have made sitting through a service difficult to say the least. So I spent Sunday catching up on MEFA liaison duties and doing some writing, and watching TTT and RotK in between.

I am not of your f-list, so that's probably why you missed me. ;)
And I think you made a typo in the sentence when you mention the story dedicated to you, as there is no LJ user visible. *unsure*

Date: 2011-07-04 10:51 pm (UTC)I knew a "PJ wants all your money" edition of LotR would be coming out eventually. Is it cut footage from the films (I still want to see the one canonical romantic kiss in the books, dang it!), or is it more extras?
I'm glad you had a good birthday celebration, even if it wasn't on your actual birthday! *hugs*

Date: 2011-07-05 12:18 am (UTC)This was *entirely* the DH's idea!
Oh, it was like having a birthday for a whole weekend. Plus being off today-- though he had to work.

It looks like you had a really nice day (or two). Hurrah!

That glass pen set is GORGEOUS!
I'm amazed at how much Blu-Ray players have come down in price. But wow! I checked out the price of the LOTR extended edition Blu-Ray: $$. And 15 disks? o_O I'm sure I'll buy it at some point. Maybe after I get over the shock of having the roof repaired.
It sounds like you had a lovely birthday weekend, and your DH is a prince! :^)

Date: 2011-07-05 01:12 am (UTC)And eep, sitting in a church with no a/c in this weather? Yeah, I think you made a good call there!

Date: 2011-07-05 05:28 am (UTC)I know. I kind of felt bad skipping, since it's so rare to have both of us off on Sunday, but really, *shakes head* I think we'd have been sick. It'd be different if they could open the windows, but the only windows in the sanctuary are the beautiful giant stained glass ones, and they don't open!
