If a fly lands on your monitor, you can't chase it off by waving your cursor at it...just saying...

ROFL!!! I can SOO see me doing that!!! *giggles madly*

Thanks for the giggles. I'm fighting another headache that's trying to start, and laughter is good for such things, right?

Oh, and another related observation: when you're cooking (in public, I might add) and a fly is bothering you, it's really not a good idea to wave a spaghetti sauce-covered ladle at it. I started to do that last Saturday, but caught myself just before splattering the 10 people standing around my food cart waiting for spaghetti. LOL

LOL! But somehow it makes sense to try waving your cursor at it...

Hee! I'd probably do that if I weren't awake enough or were too focused on something else... oh, the stories I could tell....

What if it's a virtual fly? Would it work then?

(I'm bound and determined to make that cursor useful in fly-warding because I can see myself doing just that...)

I wonder, if you had a big enough cursor would it work? Does the fly seriously get that the cursor is not a real thing moving toward it, or is it just not frightened by the small size?

(They pay me to think about stuff like this. Honestly.)

I joke about it, but philosophy (+ academia in general) is very demanding work. There's really not much money in the liberal arts anyway, and as a young person still acquiring the requisite alphabet soup behind my name, I am expected to do a lot of menial work. And it's brain-heavy work, too, which can be a bit draining and ego-bruising at time. Imagine having to be brilliant all the time... but I also love it, I get a lot of freedom and the work itself is fulfilling. So while I hesitate to call the work nice, yeah, deep down I know it is.

Hmmm... I wonder if there's an app for that. ;-)
