Fanfic on NPR

I just listened to this awesome podcast from NPR in which Lev Grossman, among others is interviewed about fanfic! It's quite funny in places, and also very informative!

If i'm not mistaken, there is also a Times magazine article on fanfic namely Harry Potter fic this past week. :)

Yes indeed! It was Lev Grossman who wrote that article. He interviewed many of us fanfic writers here on LJ for it.

The TIMES article did make a lot of Harry Potter, but it was in reality about fanfiction in general. I think the Harry Potter stuff was to get people's attention because of the new movie.

I listened to that yesterday - it was really good! I interacted with both Beth and Femme a couple years ago and it was really neat to hear them on the show.

Thanks for the link! I love NPR - I just wish they had podcasts of whole shows not just exerpts available for download. I wouldn't listen to anything else.

I recently looked up these stats for someone on LJ. The Harry Potter section of ffn has something like 530,000 stories in it. By contrast, LOTR has only 47,000. That amazes me... No wonder they focused on that fandom for the story.

I will definitely check it out.
