The DH sent me this link, a list of "It's so hot!" jokes:
http://firsttime9months.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-so-hot-and-dry-in-oklahoma.html

Some of them are too true to be funny! But this is no joke-- twice last week on the interstate to Tulsa, the DH saw trailers hauling hay that had to pull over because the hay was spontaneously combusting!

Our garden dried up and died, except for the cukes, and they're on the way out too now. I did get a bumper crop of those and need to make pickles before they go bad but I hate the thought of how hot that will make the kitchen. *sigh*

But even though the summer garden was not as productive as I'd hoped, the spring garden was really successful; hopefully summer will be better next year.

The weather's not likely to break any time soon.

The high today was 110F.

No offense - I'm glad I live further north. ;-) Even so, it's been hotter here than I like. I'm really a cool weather person but my DH got tired of Minnesota winters so we moved to central Illinois.

I'm sorry to hear about your garden drying up. :-( Hope you and your hubby will be OK.

Hugs,
Pearl

There was an article in our paper here in Minneapolis about the heat you've had in Oklahoma. It was saying that they've been particularly worried about elderly people, because they've been isolated by the weather, unable to get out for groceries or doctor appointments.

Hope your weather breaks soon!

110 F? That is acaringly hot! No wonder your garden died on you. I'm sorry though. I know you've put a lot of work into it. I hope you get some relief from that kind of heat very soon!

*fans you*

110?!? Eeeek! *dies* That's awful!
We were lucky and the last two weeks were surprisingly rainy and cold - temperatures from 15 to 25 C (that would be about 60 to 77 F). But other parts of Croatia weren't that lucky with rain - especially those parts that really needed it; most of the crops are ruined because of drought. :(

the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Oh, this sounds so familiar. *lol*

I have a rl friend in Kansas City (although, confusingly, not the part that is in Kansas... who knew all of it wasn't!?) and he is having the same weather, though he said he heard on the radio that it was the highest temperature for 10 years...

110F?!? *whimper* Is that temperature or humidex? Either way, I couldn't take that!

Spontaneously combusting?! Wow. I wish I'd seen that.

Heh... yeah, some of those aren't really funny so much as true. I went to the mall yesterday and instead of parking near the door, I parked at the absolute end of the lot because there was a spot open under a tree. And I was glad I did, because even though it was a slog to walk through the heat, I could actually still grip the steering wheel (no two-fingered driving, yay! LOL) once I got to it. My car has deeply tinted windows, but it's black... so it gets reeeeally hot when it's 100+ outside. Any little thing to keep it cool! Or perhaps it's more accurate to say "less hot".

Youch! I suppose I should stop complaining every time the temps go up over 90 here.

I hope you find some relief from the heat soon!

*hugs*

I read through those "It's so hot.." jokes and recognized most of them from here, unfortunately as a regular part of summer. I've never forget the one time I walked out of my dress shoes in the parking lot because my heels had sunk down into the softened asphalt...

I hope you guys get a break in the temps soon! SOO sorry to hear about your garden...

MY gosh, and I thought it was hot here! I hope you guys will get some rain soon, and cooler temps too.
