I did not misplace them. I had put them right where I usually do when I have to go to work the next day: on the corner of the dining room table with other things I take to work, like my time card, my pens and my box cutter.

But apparently the DH accidentally picked them up with his own keys and drove off to work without realizing he had both sets of keys. I can't call him at work anyway, because he's not allowed to keep his phone with him at work, and besides he could not have come back home to give them to me anyhow, since he works 55 miles away in Tulsa.

After frantic searching, I realized what had happened. I called my boss, and she arranged for someone to pick me up and bring me to work. I had time before work to walk a few blocks to the pharmacy and back (one of my errands). And luckily, my son dropped in to the store when *he* got off work, and agreed to pick me up and bring me home-- otherwise my boss was going to have someone take me home.

I was exhausted. I do walk to the pharmacy sometimes-- but not when I also have to go to work that day!

The DH just now called to let me know he's on the way home-- worried that I'd be mad because he had my keys. He didn't realize what he'd done until he was clocking out himself, LOL! I was just glad that I was right and that he had them and they weren't off in the Twilight Zone somewhere.

In Croatia, we say "All is well which ends well". I know that this literal translation doesn't sound so good, but I can't do any better. Do you have a similar proverb too?
Good for you that the keys are not lost. :)

Actually, that's almost exactly how we say it in English: "All's well that ends well." :) And I agree!

Ok, so it seems that it was just a small mistake in my translation. Thanks! ;)

What a relief! Maybe you should make a big huge keychain that says "Dreamflowers's Keys - Do Not Touch!!" *g* And make it all pink and sparkly. My hubby, who has done the very same thing a time or two, would rather wrestle angry rattlesnakes than pick up anything pink and sparkly.

*lol*
I wouldn't like to wrestle angry rattlesnakes, but I wouldn't carry pink and sparkly things either! *giggles*

How about attaching a big pink fuzzy something on your keys? No man would pick those up by mistake. :)

eeep! :D

I actually had my mom do that once when I was living at my parents' house. She actually took the keys AND WENT OUT OF TOWN for a week. She discovered it that day and was able to immediately send them overnight back and luckily I didn't HAVE to go anywhere meanwhile.

Glad the mystery was solved, and you were able to get to work. Sounds like it may be time to get a back-up key made that can be kept in your purse or wallet.

My car key has the security chip in it but Ford was able to make me a spare when I bought my car. You should be able to take it to your car dealer to get a spare made, assuming there's one nearby you.

Glad that the keys found their way home. Perhaps it is time to have two places to keep keys....hers and his.
