Ooh, what FUN! Alas, paper piecing isn't something I feel confident trying right now, but I might check out the first few blocks just to see if it's a design I'd want to try out sometime. :)

I've never tried paper piecing either, nor any quilted project larger than a vest. But I'm quite excited by this!
