Whee!

I finished categorizing my assigned stories for the MEFAs! I'm so puffed up! I've never done anything like that before, and I know that it was probably dead easy for some of the more technically minded folk, but I was really apprehensive about it.

The DH and I had a great day! We slept in till after 8, (pretty late for us) and then went to breakfast at IHOP, and cashed my paycheck and went to see the new Star Wars.

Spoiler-free review:

I have to say, yes it definitely was better than the previous two. The script was a good deal better and the action sequences were breathtaking. But the acting of "Anakin" and "Padme" was still so bad. She's a bit better than him, and that's not saying much. He delivered even his angstiest lines as though he were just reading them for the first time from a prompter. And I just couldn't believe in their romance--there has never been any chemistry there, unlike in the original Star Wars, where all three of the leads had a chemistry that just crackled. Still, George Lucas delivered on giving us the story, and tying up the loose ends, and I guess that's all that really mattered.

The trailer for the Narnia movie looked great!

We spent the rest of the day kind of vegging out--he watched some TV and I worked on the MEFA thing. Had leftovers for supper. We're going out to supper tomorrow evening.

Well, guess I'll check my flist.

But the acting of "Anakin" and "Padme" was still so bad. She's a bit better than him, and that's not saying much. i thought that the acting was horrible and that there was non-existent dialogue.. but i guess i'm speaking in terms of not being a Star Wars' fan and biased Rings fan ;)

The acting by those two *was* horrible. I've always loved the original Star Wars movies, but these three pre-quels have not been up to snuff. But there is no doubt that LotR blows all of them away!!! Hands down!!!

Oh, I don't mind who friends me, stalk away! I mean, if I cared, would I be posting on the internet? (Don't answer that! *grin*)

I think Hayden (Anakin) did better in this film than he did in the last one. Although the "love" story lacked BIG TIME, I was okay with it.

I liked the third movie in both the prequel and original series.

Well, he couldn't do worse, could he? But I didn't notice much improvement except in his appearance--he is not as callow looking, and in this film I *did* notice a certain physical resemblance to Mark Hamil that would make it believable about him being his father. But I just could not *buy* him becoming Darth Vader.

Oh, yes! Yoda rocks! The sequences featuring him were my favorites! And he was one of the best actors in the film. It's a shame there's no Oscar for CGI characters. But then I felt the same way about Gollum (Andy Serkis).

I agree with you on that Anakin/Padme .. well I think if you replace that actor with another one, everything would improve for the best.

R2D2 rawks, Yoda rawks, those younglings rawk :) Bail Organa rawks, Obi Wan rakws (Ewan is such a good actor). So despite Anakin, the movie was good, although I like The Phantom Menace more because it holds so much Qui Gon Jin/Liam Neeson goodness :c)

Oh I can think of a number of young, good-looking actors who could have done a better job: Heath Ledger for one would have been ideal. Orlando (though I'm glad he wasn't, because if he'd been tied up with SW, he wouldn't have been available for Legolas, and then we might have been stuck with Hadyn in *that* role--what a disaster!)

All the other characters, as you said, rock--especially Yoda! I liked the Phantom Menace all right. Little Anakin was cute, and...*blushes* I kind of even liked Jar-jar Binks never mind...

I thought your good news/bad news was cute! I am glad you and your sweetie had some quality time together--and on payday nonetheless! Its payday weekend for me, too, so look out Southpark--here I come. Sorry to hear about the glaucoma and cataract--my thoughts are with you both. Otherwise, please have a great Memorial weekend. :-)
