...just discovered the ironing board. I had closed it and it was leaning against the wall in its designated spot. She knocked it over and scared the bejeebers out of herself-- took off like the proverbial bat out of you know where. I heard the crash; fortunately nothing broken or majorly messed up by the falling ironing board.

She has also discovered the top of the piano.

I think I am going to have to consider relocating a few items...I used to have a thingie for hanging the ironing board on the back of the door. (Adds to list of things to pick up: new ironing-board-hanging-thingie.)

LOL! I had forgotten. It's been so long since we had a young cat-- our first cat, Pippin was long, long ago, and our second one, Koko, was three years old when we got him. Miss Bell is not very long out of kittenhood, and much more active than I recall our previous cats being.

Fortunately I don't do candles much anyway-- not enough space for them here.

Has she discovered countertops yet? Everyone else seems to be able to keep their cats off the countertops except me. Besides, Mouse needs to used the countertop to get to the top of the fridge so she can be queen of the mountain. Misha likes to sit on top of the china cabinet and cry like the world is ending. Dorian Gray likes to get on the chairs under the kitchen table and goose people when they go by.

I love my cats - they're better than cable!

So far she hasn't tried. She's small enough that she needs a boost to jump that high-- she needs a chair or something nearby to make it in stages. The last cat we had was large and could go from the floor to the top of the china cabinet in one jump, even when he got old.

Miss Bell has made the top of the piano-- she goes from the bench to the keyboard and then to the top...

She's an adventourous little kitty, that's for sure. I'm glad no one or nothing was damaged by the ironing board toppling over.

Cats always struck me as the Tooks of the animal kingdom, with knack for daring. Given certain wizard-addled young Tooks taste for adventure, you can see where this analogy goes with young kittens!

I hope you enjoy it. After a while, most cat-servants I know just learn to sit back and enjoy the ride. :-)

Yes, well I had forgotten how different it is to just have a cat. We've almost always had at least one cat and one dog at the same time. Miss Took is currently an "only child", and is quite the attention seeker!

Ah, cat-proofing. It's interesting to find out just exactly where all they will go and what they will get into. Right now, one of mine is on top of the computer monitor. It gets warm so she sits there while I use the computer. The only problem is that sometimes her tail hangs over the screen.

Miss Bell has decided her favorite way to sit on me is up under my chin with her tail in my face!
