That's me...old as dirt...
Jun. 2nd, 2005 07:18 pmI had one of those moments *guaranteed* to make me feel every one of my years.
The workers came to install the new central air today, a crew of four guys. They were all over the house, and especially blocking the hallway, but of course I was expecting that.
Not expecting one of them, sitting on a ladder to say "Hey, weren't you a substitute teacher? I used to go to L----" Oi! Now they're working on my house! It's bad enough when they wait on me in a store, or come in to my store as a customer and introduce their kids, but *now* they are working on my *house*! Next thing I know they will be cutting my Social Security check...assuming that there's any left in a few years when I qualify.
The electric company says we don't have to pay them until we are satisfied. Which is good, because they are going to have to come back and fix the gap in the wall next to the door to the inside unit.
Still, it's good to have central A/C once more. Those poor little window units just weren't enough.
Miss having LOST on tonight. But I have hopes for that show about Ballroom Dancing. That's one of my favorite spectator sports...

Date: 2005-06-02 12:41 am (UTC)But I *hate* to see kids coming that were half my size the last time I saw them, and now they're taller than me! I think there oughta be a law--kids I know aren't allowed to grow when I'm not watching!

Date: 2005-06-09 10:56 pm (UTC)Oh goodness! I may sound totally silly, but when I see my kids I had a few years ago...they're so grown up and in like 2nd grade, I get all flustered. They grow so fast!
