Fire update

After only 3 hours sleep, the DH has gone back to work. He phoned on the way to say that the roads were open again, and that Walmart appears to be still standing. The news says that there are still a couple of fires in the area around Hwy 33 and Hwy 99, but at the moment they are contained. If the wind picks up again, they may be a problem again, but so far they are doing OK.

Weather-wise we are getting a break: a "cold front" has come through, so our high today is "only" 99F! The northern part of the state even has a 20% chance of a little rain, but none of that looks to come where we are.

My son and his girlfriend are still here, so I may not be able to go to church this AM. (Sophie is being decently behaved with her leash and harness on, but I don't really trust to leaving her alone with them, and she won't stay shut up. She's found out how to get the child gates down. I especially don't really trust her around a 10-year-old and a 1-year-old, which are the ages of the girlfriend's kids.) I'm not sure what their plans are for the day, though. I might still be able to go if they aren't staying.

I'm pretty sure I will still be able to go this evening; I'm scheduled to feed the youth tonight.

I'd gone to bed before your other posts last night, but I'm so glad to hear that things are better this morning. I'll be thinking of you and hope they contain the rest of the fires.

That is just so unsettling and overwhelming. I hope that everything settles down and improves. Rain would be nice--very hard rain. Will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Glad to hear you won't have to evacuate. And that you're getting a "break" from the heat. ;)

I am glad that you are all safe. And I so wish that we could send you some of our rain. We do need it to make up for a very dry winter but it is playing havoc with the harvest.

I've been offline since a windstorm Saturday night, so just now getting to your posts... so glad that it seems things settled down and all is well. I hope there were no flare-ups since this post.
