Halloween pics

This is the first chance I got to upload our Halloween pics. I thought I'd try crossposting them from DW, and see how it works. I am having to use Rich Text, because I can't remember the DW code for a cut; also the pics are very big. Sorry!

The spider hanging from the umbrella is nicknamed "Shelob"; the little mummy we picked up on clearance at Walgreens: he sings and dances to "Thriller".



The little ghosts to the left of the porch are not new, but the way we displayed them out is—we suspended them from an upside down tomato cage!



Me in my "hobbit lass" costume from ScotMoot. New "feet", but I am not entirely happy with them. And of course all my curls fell out.

Thank you; we are rather fond of it! I was just glad that the costume fit--I haven't worn it since 2007.

I think you may be talking about one on the left in the second to last picture and on the right in the first? Its a Capitol flowering pear (it doesn't bear fruit, it's a relative of the Bradford flowering pear, but is a little more slender in its silhouette and also supposed to be hardier--at least that's what the nursery told us). We have two, one planted to each side of the small tree in the middle.

Yes, it took a couple of days for my husband and I to put it all up. He does most of it, though.

LOL! We do get a lot of compliments on it all. A lot of people here do decorate for Halloween, but not many put up lights and such.

And thanks for the compliment on my costume. It was quite comfortable at the beginning of the evening, but by the time we ran out of candy I was chilly.

I'm glad I dug it out. I had not worn it since 2007, so I wasn't sure it would still fit. But now I think I will wear it when we go to see The Hobbit.

Thanks! I hadn't worn it since 2007. I'm glad I dug it out because now that I know it still fits, I am going to wear it when we go see The Hobbit. I do need to redo the lacing at the sides and back, and I am making some new feet. And if I plan to wear it in December, I will also need a new cloak.

Wow! You really had a lot of fun decorating your house. I bet the kids loved visiting there. I know I would have been thrilled to trick-or-treat there as a child.

And your costume! I love the colours, the greens, and is that a kind of brocade in the front decorative panel of the dress?

The kids do seem to like it, especially our little animated things. The DH has this little battery-operated "ghost dog" that barks and its eyes light up with a red glow, and then we got the little singing dancing mummy this year. They go off when the kids come up; most of them love them and the little ones all want to pet the doggie!

Well, we are told hobbits are especially fond of green! And the fabric in the front is actually a piece of upholstery tapestry-type fabric. It laces at the sides and the back, like the bodices in the movies.

I love your decorations! It's a treat to see the new tidbits you add or arrange a bit differently. And who is that peeking through the porch screen? Could it be...Sophie!? :^D

Love your costume. I'd probably make a better hobbit-gammer than most, what with my curly grey hair. Heh. Noldorin brain. Hobbit body. ;^)
