Texas/Oklahoma is a bit different from Deep South in some terms and pronunciations, but purty simular. (Purt' near, but not quite hardly.)
As for the rain thingy, we call it a "shower," but some call it a "shahr." Annnd our family usually goes ahead and says, "A sunshiny shower won't last out the hour."
*big, back-patting hugs*

Date: 2012-11-14 01:37 am (UTC)I love your accent. It has that soft, southern drawl to it that makes me think of the heat of a summer's day and people kicking back and relaxing on the porch with a cool drink. Maybe a mint julep.

I think Texas sounds more southern than Oklahoma. To me OK sounds more "western" than "southern".

I don't know about a mint julep, but I do love a sprig of mint in my sweet ice tea.

It's also interesting to observe that when you read snippets from Tolkien, your lovely Deep South accent becomes toned down and you sound more "NPR"-like. :^)

Date: 2012-11-14 11:15 pm (UTC)I think that's the reading aloud thing. I just do sound different when I read aloud--I would never make the mistake of trying to fake a British accent, but I suppose I subconsciously try to at least sound more neutral.
