What a great day!
Jul. 3rd, 2005 10:41 pmAfter lunch today, the DH and I decided to just take a ride and have an adventure. We stopped off at the nursing home and dropped off my mom's laundry, visited a bit, and then we just drove. We ended up in Ponchatoula, LA., and found this wonderful shop specializing in beads and jewelry collectibles, with an emphasis on turquoise. The DH found some lovely pieces. There were antiques shops all over the place--it's a charming little town. On the way back, we cut down to Hiway 90 from I-10, and took the "scenic route" through Bay St. Louis. We called his sister, who lives there, and she met us at a restaurant and we had dinner together. I had this *great* dish--it was chicken breast stuffed with bacon, cheese and spinach, crusted with crushe pecans, and covered with a pecan sauce--a huge serving. I ended up having to bring home a takeaway box. Yummy!
We've still got two more days off together to go. Not sure yet what we're gonna do tomorrow. We may go somewhere else, or we may just sit around and veg.

Date: 2005-07-03 04:51 am (UTC)I haven't been to Ponchatoula since I was in my pre-teens. Got to pass through it on a train five years ago, and saw the allagator from the window...lol!
Make good use of the next two days. You'll need the rest for the crafts camp!

Date: 2005-07-03 09:05 am (UTC)There was still an alligator in the little pond by the train station, but I don't know if he's the same one you saw or not.
Tell me about it! And I have *got* to get busy when I get back to work and finish all the prep for it!
