3. His greatest regret was not being with Gilraen when she passed.
4. After the Quest and the departure of the Ringbearers, his greatest friends were the remaining Fellowship and Faramir and Eomer.
5. After the Quest, he felt a burden of gratitude to all four of the hobbits, but most especially Frodo. He told them all that he would do anything for them that they asked of him, trusting them fully never to ask of him anything he should not do. They never abused that trust. But for the rest of his life, he never felt he had discharged his debt to them--especially Frodo.

3. Pippin had a very generous and forgiving nature, much like Bilbo and Frodo, he was almost always ready to extend mercy. The exceptions were those who hurt his loved ones--like Lotho.
4. Pippin also understood some things about Frodo that even Merry and Sam did not.
5. Pippin used his dear friend and liege lord Elessar/Aragorn/Strider as his model for leadership when he became Thain.

3. Before his Adventure, he was the Family Tutor for the Bagginses. But after he returned, his relatives refused to turn their children's education over to him because of his reputation. Drogo had been his favorite pupil.
4. Bilbo and Saradoc had been named co-guardians of Frodo in Drogo's will. Bilbo was named the primary guardian, but allowed the Brandybucks to keep Frodo in Buckland because Esmeralda and Menegilda convinced him that as a bachelor he could not be responsible for a young child, and that Frodo needed a female to take care of him.
5. Bilbo very much enjoyed life in Rivendell under Elrond's roof. They were great friends over time, and in the West he continued to be a member of Elrond's household, with his own set of rooms much like the ones he'd had in Rivendell (only set up for *both* him and Frodo.
BONUS: My AU Bilbo carried on a lively correspondence with Sauron (

He's haggard and chain-smoking Haradric cigars, but sends his regards to Mr. Baggins and wants him to know he has not forgotten about the letter.

3. In spite of their very different personalities, Belladonna and Bungo were deeply in love. She was much quieter and more settled when they were home together at Bag End, but became much more Tookish when visiting her family.
4. The Fell Winter severely impaired her health, though not quite so badly as that of Bungo.
5. Belladonna was very fond of Gandalf and missed him a lot when he ceased to come around the Shire for several years after Gerontius' death.

Date: 2012-12-07 06:23 pm (UTC)2. Merry had a nursemaid name Dahlia for the first few years of his life. When she left to get married, Frodo persuaded Merry's parents that they did not need another nursemaid, as he could take care of him.
3. Merry began learning to read at a very precocious age, just barely out of faunthood. Frodo was his first teacher.
4. Post-Quest, Merry also suffered from an "anniversary illness". He fell ill on March 15, the date of the day he helped to slay the W-k.
5. Merry never got completely over Frodo's having to leave for the West. He grieved over losing his cousin/foster brother for the rest of his life.
