Time to dry out

We're still being forecasted for more rain through tonight, but the waters have receded, and things look to be drying out. Time to gather up all the towels to wash, and see if anything that got wet was ruined.

I just hope Dennis falls apart or something before landfall. I don't want to wish him on anyone else, but I'm just not up to another storm so soon...

Does your place usually suffer any real structural damage with each of these floods, or is it just the huge inconvenience of everything having to be moved and the mopping up that's the big problem?

Either way, it's a drag.

No serious structural damage, although the drywall near the floor and baseboards do suffer gradual damage over time, from getting soaked over and over. But it is the inconvenience of mopping up; I don't have all that much to move from the area that normally floods, as I try not to keep anything vulnerable in that corner of the room. But it's also the worry that it will be worse than normal--like it was this time, flooding not just the quarter of the room that I'm used to, but fully *three-quarters* flooding over into areas where I *do* keep stuff, not to mention flooding in rooms that don't normally flood. That used to never happen, but it has happened now four times in the last three years.

I know y'all have the brunt of it, but now Cindy's on her way up here. We're supposed to get real heavy rains either tonight or tomorrow... and the roof is leaking in my kitchen...

I need more buckets... time to hit the dollar store...

Urg...Dennis...this sucks. Yeah, I don't want to wish it on anyone either (especially Pensacola where my Uncle lives, there's still 10,000 people homeless from Ivan there), but boy, I DO NOT want that thing to come here! You can say goodbye to our coast if a bad hurricane comes in.
