I had the oddest dream just before I woke up this morning. It seems that they (whoever "they" are) discovered that there was a missing season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"; in it, Buffy is made the temporary mayor of Los Angeles. She and each of her Scoobies were given different "cool" cars which had been enchanted. Hers was a '64 Mustang (I know nothing of "cool cars" so I don't even know if the one in my dreams looked right or not). Somewhere along the line the Winchesters from "Supernatural" came into it. I don't remember much else--the dream was kind of like a "trailer" for the missing season...

Very odd, since it's been quite a while since I have seen either of those shows or even read any fic about them recently. I've no idea why it was on my mind enough to dream about.

Hehe! That does sound like a very strange dream. I loved Buffy. It was one of my favorite shows. I used to watch it over the phone with my friend Kendra so that I knew what was happening since most of the stupid networks here in America still don't have descriptive narration. The episode "Hush was especially difficult for me to watch alone, for obvious reasons. I did think that it was an amazingly neat idea, though, and when Kendra and I watched it together, we had to do it face to face so that she could pause the video and go into major detail about what was going on. Oh, BTW, when the later season came out and one of the slayers was named Kendra, we both got a huge kick out of it. After that, I started calling my friend "Slayer in our email exchanges.

I really enjoyed the show, and it's one of the fandoms I do like to occasionally read fic of--especially crossovers. But I hadn't been reading any recently.

Well, if you do ever find out more about that lost season, I'll go look for the lost volumes of History of Middle-earth that I've dreamt about (unfortunately, I always wake up before I can open and read them).

LOL! I remember once dreaming that I found a huge stash of old DC comics in a used bookstore for a nickel apiece!

BTW, I can recall opening them and looking at the pictures, but not reading them. I later learned that apparently people cannot read in dreams. You can open a book and look at it and know what it says, but if you try to actually see the letters of the words, they will change or blur. Or, as in your experience, you wake up!

I don't know what my subconscious was telling me about Buffy, LOL! But it would be kind of cool if there was a "lost season"!

I can imagine! I've neither seen Buffy nor Supernatural, and all I know about Buffy is what I read in curiouswombat's Return of the Key. But imagining my fandoms and lost sequels or seasons... yum! :o)

Dreams can be so crazily detailed!

They can. It's so strange how some things seem so reasonable in a dream, but when you wake up and think about it, you realize how weird it all is.

oh, that sounds like the coolest dream! I love fannish dreams. I had a dream in which I WAS Buffy once and I was slaying vampires in an old abandoned high school (pretty canon, actually, when I think about it, lol)

I much prefer LotR dreams, of course. The problem is, I wake up thinking "Oh, wow! That would make the coolest story!" and then I begin to think of what actually happened in the dream and realize it makes NO SENSE!

I have had two fics from dreams: "Sam the Turtle Goes to Mordor" was from a dream I had of Sam sitting at his desk and holding his little son and talking to him as the little one showed him this picture of a turtle he'd drawn; and "Sandcastles" was a dream I'd had after I had a conversation with Dana about one of Shirebound's Shire Bunnies, and I dreamed about Merry and Pippin making sandcastles on a beach.

OTOH, the one I had about the Fellowship wading upstream in the Anduin looking for something in the river, and the one about hobbits stuck in an elevator just made no sense at ALL!

Weird, definitely, but also very cool. Suddenly my dream of doing rounds with Dr. Wilson late at night and dealing with all the crazy stuff that goes on at the hospital after hours doesn't seem quite so odd.
