So, here's the latest...
Jul. 9th, 2005 09:35 pmIt looks like I *will* be riding it out, after all. We can't find anyplace for me to go where I can safely take the dogs. It's too hot to be leaving them in the backseat of the truck as I did in Sept. last year. And I don't intend to leave the girls alone, they are far too terrified of storms.
coneygoil kindly offered me to come to her place, but it's not that far from the coast, and, again it wouldn't be a good idea to take my dogs over there. She and her parents are so kind to offer, though.
Jim's not happy about it. But I told him frankly that I would be more scared of staying alone in a strange place than of sitting through the storm in my own place.
If I'm lucky, it will go to the east of us, and we won't have too much trouble. Of course that means it hits someone else. 8-(
In the meanwhile, I work tomorrow, because they won't be told if the store closes until sometime tomorrow afternoon. And when I get home, we'll batten down the hatches before DH has to report in to the hospital. I'm far more scared for him than I am for me. He will only be a block from the beach.
I thank all of you for your good wishes. ((((((hugs flist tightly)))))
I plan to haunt my LJ until the power/cable go out. So you will probably get a blow by blow.
And in the meanwhile, I may be able to get up another chapter of "Road to Edoras" and of "Chance Encounter".
marigoldg I didn't get hold of your Mom today. I don't know if she'd rather go to a shelter or come here. She'd probably be more comfortable here if all goes well, but a shelter might be safer.
You know what's *really* frightening? This is only *July*. The peak of the season is not till September.
Think about it.
