You Tube?

Is there some special something you need to watch/listen to YouTube now? Ever since I got my new computer, all the YouTube clips are muted. There's a little "x" by the sound symbol, and I can't figure out how to turn it off. Is there something I need to install or something?

That's weird. What happens when you hover your mouse over the mute button? Does it let you move the little scroll bar?

It totally does nothing to the mute button. I can move the scroll bar--the video advances, but there's no sound whatever I do.

I had this once after I had muted a video, and seemed not to change it back for ages. It took me quite a lot of tries to have the sound turned back on, and some fiddling and clicking, but it worked eventually. If I remember correctly I just clicked like crazy everywhere in the vicinity of the "x" until something moved.
Are you logged in with an account? If yes, try to log out, re-start your browser and see if this changes anything.

Are your speakers turned on? It is very easy in Windows * to switch the sound off by mistake!

I wonder, is your computer sound that is turned off and not youtube?

(I have a mac, so I can't really experiment for you...)

For a while it seemed to be doing that to everyone, actually--it was a glitch and I thought it had stopped. It has for me. Maybe there's an update you didn't get.
At the time it always came on with the muting switched on. If it is the same glitch, you have to click manually to get the muting switched off again (sometimes it doesn't work until you click precisely the right spot) and then slide up the volume as well.

Like HHimring said, it was doing that to everyone. A couple of weeks ago, Adobe flash player, the main engine that runs youtube videos, was hacked. Once they got it up and running again, the sound started doing that.

If you highlight the mute button and start using your up arrow to move the slider instead of the mouse, you might see a difference. If you have any more problems, let me know.
