Last Night
Nov. 1st, 2013 11:24 amWe had a record Halloween! Kids just kept coming and coming, brought in by the carload, the truckload, and even the trailer-load (Someone had made a kind of Halloween float on a flatbed, decorated it with "gravestones" and put a fog machine and a bubble machine on it, and then loaded it up with kids.) Our son's girlfriend came by with her kids for a while. There were some really adorable little ones, and it was a blast seeing how many of the parents dressed up to take their kids around. The best was a parent dressed as the "Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man" from Ghostbusters and two kids dressed up as the Ghostbusters, complete with proton packs! We had loads of compliments on our decorations from parents and kids, and at least three of the kids told us we had the "coolest house in town"!
Picspam behind the cut:
Here are three pics of the house. I'm using one of the DH's cameras, since mine is still MIA. I also took a few of the house after dark showing the lights, but they didn't come out too well.

Here's a pic of the two stars of our evening: the little animated mummy-dog we've had for several years. When his button is pushed his red eyes light up, he moves his head, wags his tail, and gives out with a mournful little bark and howl. Occasionally the littlest trick-or-treaters are scared of him until we show them he's a toy, but most of them love him and want to pet him and make him bark again. The DH holds him on his lap and makes him bark when the kids come up; we named him "Zero" after the little dog in The Nightmare Before Christmas. The little mummy next to him we've only had a couple of years. When you push his button, he dances and sings "Thriller". The kids really loved him as well, and one little toddler was dancing with him! Adorable!

And here I am as a hobbit-lass!

Date: 2013-11-01 09:00 pm (UTC)They do hold activities at the churches here, but those are mostly finished with by about 6:30 or so. We had only a few between 6 and 7 but by 7:30 it picked up and then they started to come to our block by the carload!
I think a lot of the difference is that this is such a small town--people take part in things like Halloween more here.
