Mark Watches and Mark Reads
This is a lot of fun; a guy who somehow managed to grow up without being spoiled for a lot of major popular culture, particularly various books, movies and TV shows that are big fandoms reads and watches them for the first time while blogging about his reactions. I first started in following his adventures a couple of years back when he did The Hobbit (book, not movie!). It's a blast to see his first reactions to things we who are familiar with a fandom take for granted.

Fandom in Stitches A comm that encourages fans to make fandom related quilts. I got about halfway through my quilt for "There and Back Again" before my printer went on the fritz and I couldn't print out more patterns. But I hope to finish it one day.

Organization for Transformative Works. If you are interested in the news of those who are trying to get more rights for fans, this is a great way to follow the work of the OTW, and to see what is happening in the world of copyright and trademark law as it pertains to fanworks.

It truly was hilarious! Not just what Mark had to say (which was usually funny even when he was writing about serious things) but also the comments; I had rot 13 bookmarked near the top of my list back then, LOL!

Mark Reads The Lord of the Rings was a lot of fun, wasn't it! I especially enjoyed interacting with you and other commenters. And oh, I had forgotten about rot13, as crucial as it was to my life at the time!

Thanks for the OTW shout-out. I read one of the organizers lament that AO3 is sucking up a lot of their time and energy right now, but it's all part of great work they do. They always need donations, and volunteers.

I can recall getting up early to try and catch each post as soon as it went up! Mark was so fun, and the comments were great!

The first two are really fascinating (the third as well, but that I knew already, though I confess I don't regularly read the journal entries. I should, I've become a member last year, too...).

How cool to make a fannish-themed Quilt! I never dared to take up quilting at all, after my first wonky attempts to do a cover for my doll's bed, as I'm not good at all in working so exactly. I highly admire all the work that goes into it, though.
