I actually haven't done this one before. danae_b gave me the letter "K".

Something I hate: Kardasians. Actually, I don't really hate them as individuals. I don't really know them. I'm sure that underneath their public personas they may be perfectly nice people, and not nearly as vapid and shallow and materialistic as they present themselves. But I do hate what they represent--that you don't have to actually deserve fame--all you have to do is be famous for being famous. I prefer celebrities who actually have talent or who accomplish something to get their fame.
Something I love: Kitties! I love doggies, too, but they don't start with K. My kitty is such a love sponge, and she's soft and furry and purry and she goes limp in my lap. But she can also be very silly and funny!
Somewhere I have been: Kentucky. That was my mother's home state, and I went there many times as a child. She grew up in a small town called Hazzard, in Perry County. I think the last time I went there was about in, maybe '73. I know I was still in college then, and she went to see a cousin. Mostly I recall all the narrow winding roads, the beautiful mountains and scenery broken up by the ugly places where coal had been strip minded, and then beautiful again. And I can barely remember my grandmother's house, which seemed huge to me when I was little, but when I saw it on that last visit didn't seem all that big after all.
Somewhere I would like to go: Kent. OK, this stumped me for a while, so I was just thinking of places that start with K, and I know Kent's in the UK, and I never got out of Scotland when I went there in '07, so I'd like to see some other places in the UK. I looked it up, and it has some neat places there I've heard about, so yeah, it seems like a place I'd like to go. :)
Someone I know: kerravonsen. I also know quite a few people whose RL names start with "K", but I don't like to put other people's real names online.
Best Movie: Karate Kid. The original one with Ralph Maccio and Pat Morita. (I haven't seen the latest remake yet). Umm, that's the only movie I could think of that I've seen that started with "K" except for Kung Fu Panda, which I also liked. But not as much as Karate Kid.

I absolutely loved the original "Karate Kid", and still trim my hair the way Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel how to trim a bonsai -- visualize what you want it to look like, and cut away the parts that don't look like that!

I grew up in a large ranch-style home that my parents sold years ago, and when I had a chance to visit it again just a few years ago, it was so small inside I couldn't believe it! It was a bit unnerving.

It was such a sweet movie, less about the action, and more about the characters and their relationship.

My kitty's a cutie--even if she did just chomp my hand for no reason a few minutes ago.

Karate Kid!!! For some reason, I loved Karate Kid 2 more (I was all about the Japan location at the time!) :))

I liked the second one as well, but wasn't too crazy about any of the others, though as I said, I haven't seen the latest one yet.

Yes, I did have a hunch about the kitties, LOL!

There aren't a lot of movies that start with "K" unless the first word is "Kill" which means I probably haven't seen them.

I hear you about the Kardashians. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than watch their show. But I have to confess to a grudging respect for their business sense.

I can't stand that sort of reality show. Those sorts of shows are all about encouraging bad behavior and unnecessary drama!

I suppose the drama and bad behavior is there to mask the lack of any discernible talent or point to the shows :-)

There is that,as well. I suppose that's why I do like shows in which the idea is to do something well, whether it's to cook or design a house or dance. Or shows that focus on helping other people. Or maybe shows about cute kitties and puppies. ;)

But shows about people just fighting and backstabbing and cussing? Or shows that exploit a certain lifestyle or ethnic group? Uh-uh.

I have to agree with you about what the Kardashians represent. And Paris Hilton. And so on. I think you put it quite well.

Another thing you put quite well was your description of the "love sponge." Awww!

I can't stand the Kardashians either. They may or may not actually be that awful, but they are certainly encouraging and celebrating and contributing to the awfulness in our culture, and that's just as bad if not worse, imo.

I saw your "K" responses! I wish I'd thought of your answer to the first one, because merciful heavens, I'd rather have the Kardashians around any day than the KKK! *shudder*

But the Kardishians (and others like them) do indeed contribute to awfulness and shallowness. People who have nothing to commend themselves but money and existence have become "news".

Well done! K isn't an easy letter to do, but you had some great answers. I've seen both the remake and the original Karate Kid, and while, the remake is okay, my vote goes to the original. It was the first, and had more spirit. Who the heck are the Kardashians? Just joking -- don't care for them, either. My head is filled with course books right now and whatever the Kardashians get up to, I could care less.
