A Satisfying Weekend
Nov. 14th, 2004 07:54 pmWell, I am totally exhausted. I have about six loads of laundry, all covered in red dirt and sawdust from the stable where our demo was set up, but we had a great time. Every year I set up a "scriptorium" where I sit and demonstrate calligraphy and illumination, and it looked really great this year! We also held mock courts for the general public, and I was able to take part in one of the dance demos.
I love the atmosphere at this demo. It's so strange, there is music coming from every direction, and it is all different. You would think that it would drive me nuts: live music from the Ceiledh tent next to the stable, canned music from the main arena, bagpipers from at least two different areas, as well as music from our own instrument makers. But it's just part of what makes this demo fun and different!
It was also fun to take a break from Medieval times and watch the Border collies herd sheep, and look over the Revolutionary and Civil War encampments as well.
My husband and I did have one problem: all our stuff won't fit in the truck any more! It took two trips to take everything up there. He's talking about a trailer for next year!
