Here is part 5 of my new Pippin h/c. I have decided to use a title suggested by Gryffinjack, "Consequences of a Fall".

Date: 2005-10-14 08:13 am (UTC)I felt so sorry for Merry not being able to comfort Frodo, and I was a bit angry at Saradoc - he knew very well that he was punishing Frodo as well as Merry by doing that. I loved Merry's protectiveness and stubborness!

And I actually wanted a parallel here between the punishment Saradoc gave Merry here and the punishment that Pippin will recieve several years later in "The Dare".

Pippin is a very loving and compassionate child, and a funeral, and death, are not things he's ever really had to think about before, poor baby.
