I'm hoping to write a few more such essays. I think that fan fiction is by its very nature a somewhat different creative process than conventional fiction.

The following essay is a theory I have been bumping around in my head for a couple of years now, and I've been writing on this off and on for a couple of months now. After reading LotR numerous times, I have come to the conclusion that the One Ring was not as powerful as everyone thought it was. I know that sounds a bit controversial, so I decided to set it out like this, and find out if my theory holds water.
