Jul. 6th, 2009 08:56 amWell, I had a very nice belated birthday celebration. The DH ordered something for me from my Amazon wish list--The Complete Recordings Soundtrack for RotK! (I already had FotR and TT, but when he was going to get RotK for me before it was out of stock.) At last I will have them all!
Then we went in to Stillwater, and he took me to lunch to celebrate my birthday... They have an awesome Italian restaurant there called "Joseppi's". We both ordered a cup of soup instead of salad, and the sirloin marsala. I had garlic potatoes with mine, and he had fried polenta. We ended up taking at least half of the generous servings home with us, so we had supper as well!
After we got home, the DH wanted to finish up the living room painting: we only had one wall left to finish in there, so he went out to the garage to get the paint. I noticed after a while he was still out there, but just figured that he was searching for something. Then the phone rang--he was on his cell phone! The garage door (which we have had trouble with from time to time) had slipped the track and closed while he was in there, and he couldn't get it open. I went out and spoke to him through the tiny window, and he asked me to run to Walmart and buy him a certain socket he needed, so he could take the door off. I hustled; I wasn't gone 20 minutes--but when I pulled up, I saw him standing in the driveway, drenched in sweat. I said "Oh! Good, you were able to get out! Did you find the socket you needed after all?"
"No. I wanted OUT! I took the sledgehammer to it!" I glanced beyond his truck to the garage, and sure enough, it was kind of hanging there in pieces. He said he couldn't stand it in there anymore. (I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before--but he is more than a little claustrophobic.)
So, now we have no garage door. It will be a while before we can afford to get something presentable in there. He'll probably just hang plastic up or something in the time being.
At any rate, no painting done Saturday, so we skipped church Sunday, and now the living room is painted a cheerful shade of green, with chocolate brown trim. The paint on the crown molding did not come out so well--neither of us could reach it properly, so we will possibly pay someone to touch up our mistakes up there.
In other news, it appears that Voice-posting is down AGAIN, so I won't get my Roverandom reading in yet. On the other hand, I got my last three chapters of "Road to Edoras" back from the beta (*waves* Thank you,
claudia603!) and will be updating with Chapter 53 in just a few minutes! By Friday, I hope that it will all be posted and done!
Anyway, I go to work today at 11, and I just hope I can find my name-pin before I have to leave...it seems to have taken a hike!
